COULD YOU MANAGE AN ACADEMY TO DEVELOP PLAYERS FOR THE FIRST TEAM?
WHAT IS IT?
The Academy Manager is responsible for the day to day management and implementation of the club’s youth development programme, staff and players. They develop talented players and support their pathway into the First Team.
Their role includes running the Academy in line with the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) rules and regulations. They will manage all the staff in the Academy and ensure that they are performing.
They have responsibility for the budget across the whole Academy.
DID YOU KNOW?
An Academy Manager is able to delegate some of their responsibilities to enable them to undertake coaching time with the players. They may employ an Operations Manager to assist with this.
RECOMMENDED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
A UEFA A Licence, FA Youth Award and the FA Advanced Youth Award is required to access a position as an Academy Manager in a Category 1-4 Academy.
As an Academy Manager you must have had experience of working within a management position - coordinating activities, staff and other stakeholders. Knowledge and experience of the EPPP guidelines and requirements is also desirable.
